Credit Report Repair

There are some Americans that have one or two negative items on their credit report, but on the other hand there are some people that have too many to count. Recent studies show that credit debt and low credit scores are on the rise, which means that people are not aware of their credit situation or simply do not care. If they are aware of their credit debt situation, then they may not know that there is an easy and cost effective way to fix it.

Credit repair has been proven to be very effective in raising people’s credit scores. Not only is it an option, but it is your legal right to dispute inaccurate, improper or misleading information from your credit report with the credit reporting agencies. These agencies have tried to convince Americans that credit repair is illegal or ineffective, but that is only because they make money by reporting your information – even if it is incorrect! Do not be fooled, credit repair will help you get to where you want to be in your life financially.

Many people think that credit reporting agencies are related to the government, which is another myth.  The government has actually passed over 300 laws pertaining to credit reporting in order to protect consumers.  Three of the most important laws are the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT).  Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, it is your legal right as a consumer to have your credit report improved.  The second one is the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, which states that it is your legal right to put an end to all of the harassing phone calls from creditors and collection agencies.  The most important one is the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, which regulates the actions of the credit reporting agencies.  All of these laws are to protect you from the credit reporting agencies, so as you can see, by law you have the right to dispute your information.

Now, there is a good chance that the information will violate one of the 300+ laws and was placed on the credit report without verification. Around 80% of all credit reports do not meet full legal compliance, which means that most negative items must be removed because of improper filing. Your credit score will go up because they were reporting inaccurately, so it is very important to dispute all information to insure it is 100% correct.

There are some requirements that the agencies absolutely must meet in order to put any information on your credit report.
The information must:

  1. Be accurate and complete.
  2. Legal reporting requirements must be met.
  3. No laws may be violated (FCRA or FACT)

If you see any items on your credit report that are inaccurate or misleading, do not be tricked into thinking that you cannot dispute it.  This is your legal right! There are credit repair companies that offer legal representation at a low cost and can be even more effective and convenient.
