Obtaining your credit report

When you are ready to get smart about your credit go online and pull up a credit report. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the three nationwide reporting agencies are required to give you a free copy of your credit report once a year. The only website that is authorized through the federal government to do so is www.annualcreditreport.com. You can log on to this website and they will ask for your personal information to verify that it is actually you requesting the credit report. Also, they will ask some information about loans or credit cards that you have in your credit history as another security measure. After this is all finished you will have your credit report in your email and have a better understanding of your credit record.
